It’s
a dual celebration day! Happy National Read A Book Day AND National Fight
Procrastination Day! Oddly enough, I procrastinated writing this entry, AND
reading several books required for my classes…oops! Well, at least I wasn’t
late for class yesterday!
So
that I don’t procrastinate any longer, I’ll learn you on what procrastination is.
Wikipedia defines it as “the practice of carrying out less urgent tasks in preference to more
urgent ones, or doing more pleasurable things in place of less pleasurable
ones, and thus putting off impending tasks to a later time.” We all do it, and
don’t believe anyone who says they don’t! We may not all do it all the time,
but at some point everyone will face a moment or two where they will push off
something because they just don’t want to do it. Unfortunately, some things you
can’t push off for too long, or at all. Heartbreak, loss, hurt. These are all
things that we will inevitably face, and as much as we want to be able to avoid
them, it doesn’t usually work out that way. But, the world keeps going, and so
must we when these times strike. So, today, don’t fight it. Sit down and deal
with the things you’ve been putting off! One of those things might be reading
that book that you haven’t made time for, which is convenient because it’s also
National Read a Book Day!
