Happy National Fudge Day!
Fudge is “a type of Western confectionery, which is
usually soft, sweet and rich. It is made by mixing sugar, butter, and milk,
heating it to the soft-ball stage at 240 °F (116 °C) and then beating
the mixture while it cools so that it acquires a smooth, creamy consistency.”
There are numerous flavours of fudge to be had and enjoyed! The origins of this
sugary delight are thought to be from 1886 in Baltimore, Maryland. An American
student by the name of, Emelyn Battersby Hartridge, claimed her cousin had made a batch of
fudge and “sold it for 40 cents a pound.” Hartridge later obtained the recipe in
1888 and the rest is history! Seems pretty sweet to me! To vote on today’s
