National Workaholics Day

To my fellow workaholics I say, Happy National Workaholics Day!

A workaholic is “a person who is addicted to work. The term generally implies that the person enjoys their work; it can also imply that they simply feel compelled to do it.” According to Wikipedia, “workaholism is not the same as working hard.” The term “workaholic” was first used by Wayne Oates in 1968, but didn’t really catch on until the 1990s. Are you a workaholic? Take the “Are you a workaholic quiz” by clicking here

Don’t work too hard today folks. In fact, why not take a break and vote on the daily poll!

*I would just like to point out that as I typed in “workaholic symptoms list” in Google Images (hoping to find an image I could use instead of the link to the quiz), the third image to appear was a photograph of Rob Ford. Really Google? THAT’S your example of a workaholic?? Yikes.

National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day

Oooooooweeeeeee! Let’s hope that sun comes out today – It’s National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day, and with any luck we’ll have some sidewalk fried eggs for breakfast!

There appears to be a lot of evidence suggesting that this can’t actually take place. One source states that the sidewalk would not actually get hot enough for it to cook properly, but I’m not sure I would completely agree with that. Perhaps in some areas, I could understand that, but we are seeing reports of record high temperatures all the time, so it’s probably possible. Here’s proof (along with hilarious commentary by the two young girls filming!):

Before you get too full, vote on today’s poll…please!

Oops! Must still be National I Forgot Day! Happy Independence Day to all of my wonderful American followers! May you celebrate peacefully and enjoy the day!

National Compliment Your Mirror Day

Well, here’s one for the books! It’s National Compliment Your Mirror Day!
Looking in the mirror places people, generally, in to one of two categories: the love it, or hate it. For me, I have a love/hate relationship with mine…when I can find it. Okay, so my mirror is currently in storage (which I love), which has resulted in my never really knowing what I look like when I leave the house in the morning (which I hate…oh who am I kidding, I don’t actually care!). So regardless of whether you like what you see or not, be sure to tell your mirror something to boost IT’S confidence! Maybe it’s the curve of its frame, or the way it’s reflection makes the room look bigger. Perhaps it’s the shape, or the material used for the frame. I’m stretching here, I know. But, what more can you do, with such a silly fantastic day?!

I hope you’re still not forgetful from yesterday! Click here to vote on today’s poll!

National I Forgot Day

Today is…oh no! I forget! Or, perhaps I’m just continuing on the spirit of yesterday’s Day, because it is actually National I Forgot Day! Okay, so that wasn’t overly funny, but think about it – to celebrate today you get to use the ultimate excuse to get out of anything, and there are no repercussions! Have something you’ve done that you’d like to “forget” – today is your day! However, don’t forget to vote on today’s poll! Click here.

*Note: There may actually be repercussions to “forgetting” something. DailyTastyNugget takes no responsibility for any negative outcomes that may result from one claiming to “forget.”

International Joke Day

Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian followers! Canadians are known for our their great sense of humour, which makes it appropriate that today is also International Joke Day.

In case you are unsure, jokes are “something spoken, written, or done with humorous intention.” According to Wikipedia, jokes have been apart of human culture since approximately 1900 B.C. Would you believe that the oldest known joke is actually a fart joke? True story.

The daily poll is no joke – click here to fill it out!

One last thing – today is also the birthday of my beloved sushi girlfriend, Katie! So, Happy Birthday Katie!
