Happy National Greasy Foods Day! 

I think this is probably one of the greatest days to celebrate! Why? Umm, because greasy food is delicious! There are so many different types of greasy foods…from French fries to potato chips to nachos loaded in cheese…I mean the options are almost unlimited! I don’t want to bore you with too much on greasy foods, because lets face it, you’re probably in a rush now to get crackin’ on celebrating this wonderful Day. HOWEVER, I feel I have an obligation to warn you that excessive consumption of these foods can lead to some unpleasant health risks. On the other hand, this same consumption can also result in the less serious, but far more enjoyable food baby! Happy eating!

National Bologna Day

Happy National Newfie Steak Day…errr National Bologna Day! Bologna is “a sausage derived from and somewhat similar to the Italian mortadella (a finely hashed/ground pork sausage containing cubes of lard that originated in the Italian city of Bologna”

Apparently, bologna has been around for approximately 500 years, and has been found in recipe books from as far back as 1660. Today it comes in a variety of meats, such as turkey, chicken and even soy-based protein.

But here are the two best forms of Bologna:

National Boston Cream Pie Day

Today is National Boston Cream Pie Day! For many of you, you might really be excited about today, but for me, it’s nothing to celebrate. Boston cream pie isn’t really my thing. If you refer back to National Cream Filled Donut Day, you’ll be reminded of a certain good deed from my brother that went horribly wrong with Boston Cream!

Fun Boston Cream Pie Fact: This pie is actually a cake!

Boston Cream Pie was invented by M. Sanzian, an Armenian-French chef in 1856. The dessert later became Massachusetts’ official dessert in 1996.

National Reptile Awareness Day

Happy National Reptile Awareness Day! 

Reptiles are “an evolutionary grade of animals, comprising today's turtles, crocodilians, snakes, lizards, and tuatara, as well as many extinct groups.” They first surfaced approximately 310-320 million years ago. The “Age of the Reptiles” took place in the Mesozoic era, a time frame that spanned from 252 to 66 million years ago. It was within this era that dinosaurs dominated the earth. Gideon Mantell, a 19^th century paleontologist coined this phrase. Today, there are several reptiles that live amongst us (such as the ones mentioned in the definition of reptile).
