And, no, I don’t mean Tuxedo Stan (may he rest in peace!)!
I don’t really know what to say about tuxedos, except that they are awesome! Do you think so? Vote on the Daily Poll!

National Face Your Fears Day

Oh boy, today is a toughy! Today is National Face Your Fears Day!

For me, this is both terrifying and yet something I try to do as often as possible! Sometimes facing your fears means doing something extravagant, but it can also be small simple things. I have social anxiety, so sometimes just leaving the house is a fear I am forced to face. However, I also like to do more large scale “fear-facing” if you will!

A few years ago, I spent 10 days in Alaska, which was a trip I did by myself. This allowed me to face my fear of being alone, and travelling on my own, yet it turned out to be one of the best adventures of my life! I also went (attempted) scuba diving, and failed miserably, but, hey, I tried it and I kind of did it. Would I do it again? Maybe. But I’m not going to rush out and do it. And even this past weekend, I went on a Vision Quest. I’m super inexperienced in the woods, and am terrified of being eaten by some kind of wild animal. As you can tell, I survived this journey, and even successfully built my first fire.

The point is, in order to make ourselves stronger as human beings and as individuals we need to challenge ourselves. We need to do things that scare us. We need to push beyond our perceived limits. THAT is how we grow. So today I challenge you to face a fear! Tell us what that is in the comments section below or on Facebook and while you’re at it, vote on the Daily Poll.

National American Touch Tag Day

Happy National American Touch Tag Day!

For those of you who do not know what this is, American Touch Tag is actually just the game of tag. Tag is “a playground game that involves one or more players chasing other players in an attempt to "tag" or touch them, usually with their hand.” Basically, one person is designated as being ‘it’ and they then have to chase all the other players around until they catch or ‘tag’ one of them. I can tell you from personal experience, there is nothing worse than being ‘it,’ especially when you are the youngest…and fattest of the bunch! However, it is an excellent source of exercise, so I’d recommend we all get out there and play a game if it today!

Tell us your opinion of tag! Vote on the Daily Poll!

National Bathtub Day

Oh how fun! It’s National Bathtub Day!

A bathtub is “a large container for holding water in which a person may bathe.” They can be made from several different materials, such as cast iron, fiberglass, ceramic, acrylic and even treated wood! They are “usually placed in a bathroom either as a stand-alone fixture or in conjunction with a shower.” Apparently, the earliest documented bathtub was found in India sometime around 3300 BC! This invention has been highly modified over the years, to what we currently know as a bathtub!

National Noodle Day

Happy National Noodle Day! And, after a long 2 days without eating (due to that journey I mentioned in yesterday’s post), I will be more than happy to consume some noods!

Noodles are “a type of staple food made from some type of unleavened dough which is rolled flat and cut into one of a variety of shapes. While long, thin strips may be the most common, many varieties of noodles are cut into waves, helices, tubes, strings, or shells, or folded over, or cut into other shapes.” They can either be sold freshly made (or some processed form of) or in dried-form.

Contrary to popular belief, noodles are not an Italian invention. In fact, we can thank the Chinese for this delightful creation! Through the useful tool of carbon dating, it is believed that noodles were made as far back as 4000 years ago!

There are many different types of noodles, such as wheat, buckwheat, and rice. Along with these various types of noodles are different ways to serve them. Noodles go well in soup, casseroles, salads, and main courses. With so many options, who can you not enjoy celebrating today?!
