National Noodle Day

Happy National Noodle Day! And, after a long 2 days without eating (due to that journey I mentioned in yesterday’s post), I will be more than happy to consume some noods!

Noodles are “a type of staple food made from some type of unleavened dough which is rolled flat and cut into one of a variety of shapes. While long, thin strips may be the most common, many varieties of noodles are cut into waves, helices, tubes, strings, or shells, or folded over, or cut into other shapes.” They can either be sold freshly made (or some processed form of) or in dried-form.

Contrary to popular belief, noodles are not an Italian invention. In fact, we can thank the Chinese for this delightful creation! Through the useful tool of carbon dating, it is believed that noodles were made as far back as 4000 years ago!

There are many different types of noodles, such as wheat, buckwheat, and rice. Along with these various types of noodles are different ways to serve them. Noodles go well in soup, casseroles, salads, and main courses. With so many options, who can you not enjoy celebrating today?!
