It may be happy, or sad, with the
possibility of apathetic feelings today, as we celebrate National
Weatherperson’s Day! (…see what I did there?!)
A weatherperson
is defined as “a person who reports and forecasts the news.” From my
experience, a weatherperson has a tough job, in that they receive negative
feedback when the “predict” a particular form of weather, and then are cursed
out when they get it right, but the weather is unfavorable! It’s a lose-lose
job if you ask me. On top of that, in many areas, the weather changes so
rapidly it’s nearly impossible to make a sound prediction! You couldn’t pay me
enough to take on that job!
Apparently the reason why National
Weatherperson’s Day takes place on February 5 is because it’s John Jeffries
birthday! Who is John Jeffries, you ask? I have no idea, but Wikipedia
indicates that he is one of the first weathermen ever. He took measurements
everyday from 1774-1816.
Here’s a “photograph” of Mr.
Jeffries:
*Please note this is not actually
a photograph of John Jeffries.
So, weather it is sunny, cloudy, snowy, drizzly, torrential downpour,
or all of the above mixed with a tornado warning, I wish you the best ever
National Weatherperson’s Day!
