International Firefighters Day

Today is International Firefighters Day. You may remember the post from January 10th, in which it was National Volunteer Firefighters Day, but today is a bit different. International Firefighters Day is in support and appreciation of ALL firefighters, both volunteer and not, from around the world.

Firefighters are hometown heroes, who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe during times that no one ever wants to think about, let alone live! These men and women are an important part of our communities, not to mention the visual appeal many long for with their “Firefighter Calendars!” In all seriousness, many of the activities these teams endure throughout their workday put them in situations that are risky and sometimes life-threatening.

Fun Firefighter Fact: The word “firefighter” has been used since 1903!

If you see a firefighter today, be sure to acknowledge them, and tell them how much you appreciate the work they do! But, in the meantime, why not vote on today’s poll, by clicking here
