National Cherry Pie Day

Now this is what I’m talking about, friends! Happy National Cherry Pie Day everyone! Who doesn’t love a slice of fresh out of the oven cherry pie!? Cherry pie is so amazing, an 80’s/90s hair-band even wrote a song about it!

This cherry filled pie originated in the United States (thank you to my southern neighbours for this life-enhancing creation!). Apparently the traditional method for making this type of pie is to use tart cherries opposed to sweet ones. The use of tart cherries is preferred because it makes it easier to determine the sweetness of the filling once it’s baked.

Fun Fact: Cherry pies used to be a summer treat, which generally coincided with the United States’ Independence Day and Canada Day. Who knew?!

While I’m almost 100% certain I will not be consuming any cherry pie today, I hope you will be able to enjoy a slice. Life is pretty sweet as it is, but not as sweet as the delectable taste of fresh baked cherry pie smothering its cherry-goodness all over your tongue…

Okay! That’s it…I gotta get me some pie!
