National Use Less Stuff Day

Happy National Use Less Stuff Day! I bet many of you will have trouble with this one – me included.

Our Western society has us under the assumption that we need “stuff” in order to fulfill the void we may have, and that by purchasing items we will be happy. Unfortunately, this happiness is only temporary, so we end up buying more! Today is about saying “no” to that behavior. It is about making a conscious decision to use only what we need. Why can’t we just be happy by waking up and living the day? Why can’t we just be happy by going for a walk, or having a chat with friends? Why is it that “stuff” is required to make us feel good? Can’t answer that? Me either!

So today, my friends, lets take a minute to sit back and evaluate what we use. How much of it actually makes us happy? How much of it is just sitting there collecting dust? Now that you’re thinking about it, vote on the Daily Poll!
