World Toilet Day

Today is World Toilet Day. 

No, this doesn’t mean a challenge to see who can use theirs most. It’s actually a United Nation initiative to “break the taboo around toilets and draw attention to the global sanitation challenge.” Sanitation is something we certainly take for granted in the Global North. This campaign is an excellent way to make us aware of how lucky we are. This campaign has drawn some celebrity attention by bringing in Matt Damon into the mix. Here’s a video he was a part of to bring awareness to the situation. However, I think it pokes fun of the issue, rather than providing a positive means to encouraging people to educate themselves and make a change. What so you think?
