National Animal Cracker Day/National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day

Sweet double-awesome holiday today! It’s not only National Animal Crackers Day, but ALSO National Wear Your Pajamas to Work Day! Where to start???

Animal Crackers are “a particular type of small cracker or cookie baked in the shape of an animal, usually an animal one might see at a zoo or circus.” These tasty little creatures are generally light in color (although over varieties do exist), and boast a subtle sweetness to them. Some might argue these beauties are more cookie than cracker, but really, does it matter?! They’re amazing!

Fun Animal Cracker Fact: These snacks were first created in the late 1800s in England, and were originally known as “Animals.” It wasn’t until 1948 that the “name brand” that we so quickly recognize as being animal crackers switched from being “Animals” to “Barnum’s Animal Crackers.”

Since I don’t work today, I unfortunately don’t get to wear my PJs to work – and, due to silly reasons, was unsuccessful in getting my work to jump on board and allow us to wear our jammies to work, as a replacement for casual day. Okay, so when I say “silly,” I recognize that there are some individuals in the world that don’t quite understand “workplace appropriate” so perhaps that is the real reason! Regardless of my unfulfilled attempt, I hope you have the opportunity to dress in your nighty or onesie!

Another Fun Animal Cracker Fact: did you know that since 1902 there have been 54 different animal shapes used to form these yummy biscuits?! Now you do! And to make today even better, here’s a little ditty about, yep, you guessed it – ANIMAL CRACKERS!!!
