National Peach Cobbler Day

So today is National Peach Cobbler Day…which is strange since its not even peach season! Oh well, its still pretty good!

According to me friends at Wikipedia, a cobbler is “fruit or savoury filling poured into a large baking dish and covered with a batter, biscuit, or pie crust before being baked. Some cobbler recipes, especially in the South, resemble a thick-crusted, deep-dish pie with both top and bottom crust.” And, in this case, that “fruit or savoury filling” happens to be PEACHES!  Millions of peaches! …hey that reminds me of a song, that I feel isn’t played quite enough (see below)!

Anyway, back to the peach cobbler, er just straight up cobbler (or Cobbler à la Paula Abdul, if you will). Cobbler originated from the British American colonies. The name “cobbler” was given because after this delightful dessert has been baked, it resembles a cobblestone street! There are many varieties of cobbler, but since today is celebrating PEACH cobbler, I recommend a quick Google search to find any number of recipes to try! Bon appetite!
