National Napping Day

Here’s hoping today is full of sunshine, because there is no better way to celebrate National Napping Day than to have an amazing afternoon name, while basking in the sunshine! Am I right?

According to the National Sleep Foundation (US), there are various different types of napping:
1.     Planned, or preparatory napping. This is the type of napping one might take knowing they will need to be up past their regular sleeping pattern. Those who exercise this type of napping may do so even though they may not necessarily feel sleepy!
2.     Emergency napping. This type of napping is useful when one is so tired they cannot function throughout their day. By practicing this type of napping one can stave off a case of fatigue and drowsiness.
3.     Habitual napping. This type of napping is a parent’s favourite! Practicing this type of napping means that the napper will have a nap at the same time each day, such as an infant having an afternoon nap.
To learn more about the benefits and impacts of napping head to NSF’s website, by clicking the link above.

Still not convinced that napping is great, or frightened off by the NSF’s list of negative impacts of doing so? Well, here’s a list of 8 famous men that napped! And here’s a picture of a cute little kitten taking a good ‘ol nap!
