National Play In The Sand Day

Now here’s a day I can really dig into – it’s National Play In The Sand Day! I mean really, this is a pretty sweet way to follow up National Lazy Day, don’t you think?! And, there are so many options for playing in the sand too! Castles, mermaids, ridiculous sand sculptures, you name it! Or you can wiggle your toes in the sand, pile it all in a circular mound, or make an “ice cream” using your fist and some wet sand! So many options! Unfortunately, my local sand castle festival has the wrong date to host such an event – today would have been perfect, but Sand Castle Day (as we affectionately call it) takes place next weekend instead! Perhaps this is what we could call a “warm up” for the brave souls willing to get up at 5 am to play in the sand for a chance to win some cash monies! Fair? Regardless of your artistic abilities, playing in the sand is just…well, fun! No matter your age, size, skill or imagination everyone can enjoy an afternoon of creativity in the sand (unless of course you happen to be allergic to the sand…).
