National Apple Dumpling Day

Happy National Apple Dumping Day!

An apple dumpling is “a pastry filled with apple, cinnamon and occasionally raisins.” Apparently this is a North American recipe, which originated from the Amish areas of Pennsylvania. Regardless of where they are from, they are pretty tasty!

And of course, we can’t talk about apple dumplings without mentioning the Apple Dumpling Gang! This delightful 1975 Disney film starred one of my favourite’s Don Knotts (although I enjoyed him much more in The Ghost and Mr. Chicken!). While the movie itself is about a couple of guys trying to get their hands on some gold, it clearly has nothing to do with how to make the perfect apple dumpling! Sad, but true. BUT, here’s a clip from the film:
Hope you enjoyed that! Now, if you would be so kind and vote on the Daily poll!
