National Respect Canada Day

So, we’ve made it halfway through the month of July. July. A month that begins with Canada Day. What does this have to do with anything, you ask? Well, today is National Respect Canada Day. Don’t get me wrong, I love Canada and have a great deal of respect for it, but isn’t it a bit strange to have 2 Canada related holidays in one month? Oh well...here it goes:

Canada: 1. Home to over 3 million lakes and 60% of the world’s lakes. 2. An estimated 9% of Canada is covered by freshwater, and 20% of the world’s freshwater is found throughout this beautiful country. 3. We are a Country that enables a (former, but at the time) homeless, alcoholic to begin one of the biggest coffee franchises in Canada. 4. We were one of the first countries to accept and legalize same-sex marriage. 5. It harbours the World’s Largest Piggy Bank, The World’s Largest Lake in an Island in a Lake, the World’s Tallest Totem Pole, The Longest Outdoor Skating Rink, The World’s Largest Retail Shopping and Entertainment Complex, and the World’s Largest Operating Cuckoo Clock.  6. It is the birthplace of hockey. 7. Many things were invented in Canada such as: Insulin, Standard Time, Peanut Butter, WonderBra, McIntosh Apples, and so much more! 8. Our amazing healthcare system! 9. Canadian travellers are loved around the world! 10. It's a place confident enough to have hilarious towns names, for example: Dildo, NL, (which isn't too far from Spread Eagle, NL) Lower Sackville, NS, Finger, MB, Climax, SK,  and Economy Falls, NS to name a few (but seriously, Newfoundland and Labrador - you take the cake on this one!). 11. And finally, Canada celebrates and cheers for what is probably the worst NHL franchise in recent (or not so recent) history year after year.

Handled! Show some respect for Canada and vote on today’s daily poll
