World Hepatitis Day

Today is World Hepatitis Day. Not such a happy celebration…unless you don’t have it.

So what is hepatitis? Well, it is “a medical condition defined by the inflammation of the liver and characterized by the presence of inflammatory cells in the tissue of the organ.” Apparently there are six forms of hepatitis, but only (A, B, and C) “cause about 90 per cent of acute hepatitis cases in Canada.” There are a range of effects, with the worst being liver damage. There is also a range of symptoms, such as fever, nausea, and loss of appetite. There is nothing fun about this virus. In most cases, transmission is preventable, and there doesn’t seem to be any cure. Not really sure what I can add to that other than to be safe!

Today’s daily poll is a bit heavy. Weigh in by clicking here!
